One of the benefits of owning your own business is that you can choose what organizations to support and best represent who you are as a professional person! Capitol Event Firm has the pleasure of being involved with a fabulous organization based here in the Washington D.C. area called One World Education!
Founded in 2006 by two teachers (Eric Goldstein and Emily Chiarello) in an effort to engage their students they developed a curriculum for local teachers that uses students own reflective writings and experiences as a basis for shared learning. During their 4 years they have worked with more than 1000 local middle school and high school student writers as they showcase their ideas about culture and global issues. Their mission is to promote literacy while empowering local teachers to help teach globally literate citizens through peer- centered writing!
With only one full-time employee and one part-time employee this organization is kept running by a group of passionate volunteers! With essentially NO overhead costs whatever fundraising efforts they manage go directly to the students! Not many non-profits can boast this.
Currently their only fund-raising event is their annual Youth, Culture & Learning Celebration at the Gala Theatre in Washington D.C. Save the date and come out to support this fabulous cause. (May 1st from 6-9pm).
In an effort to prove that we at Capitol Event Firm will put money where our mouth is from now until May 1st for every new "facebook" fan Capitol Event Firm will donate $1.00 to this fabulous cause (up to $350).
